About Queen V

Queen V is a feminine wellness brand that empowers females of all ages and aims to reduce the stigma surrounding vaginal health and feminine products. With cheeky brand positioning and fresh colors, this brand is not afraid to push the envelope in delivering high-quality products made from better-for-you ingredients.

Design Challenge

Because the purchase price of products were so low, and users weren't qualifying for free shipping until reaching at least $25, Queen V wasn't seeing high sales or ROIs from their ecommerce site. Wanting to increase the final price of each checkout transaction, we wanted a way to target a consumers' specific cart items and suggest products that either got them above the free shipping threshold or were relevant to the products they were already buying. In order to do this, we needed to build a custom product that would make it easy for shoppers to add suggested products to their cart, and easy for our internal team to define products and rules for targeting users.

I created the consumer-facing upsell cart
experience as well as the internal UI
for a custom Shopify-based app.

I created the consumer-facing upsell cart experience as well as the internal UI for a custom Shopify-based app.

Consumer-Facing UI

Once a user has been on their cart for 3-5 seconds, an animated slide-out appears. The slide out contains two products, either with a variant dropdown or without, allowing the user to add suggested products to their cart. The items appearing in the slide-out, as well as their discounted price, is determined from the custom Shopify app dashboard, used internally by members of the ecommerce team.

If the user does add the new products from the upsell slide-out, their cart would be updated accordingly with regular-priced items and discounted products. If the user decides to remove the regular-priced products that the upsell rule was targeting, the add-on product would also be removed.

The Solution

Partnering with an offshore development team, a completely custom Shopify app was designed and developed, introducing more flexibility and control in upselling to consumers. With a greater ability to track user shopping habits and redeemed discounts, the drive to increase individual sales and improve overall revenue was implemented and could be rebranded for each of the parent company's individual product sites.
